Noisy Ads will receive a major blow by Google Chrome!

The rebellion against online ads is no news, as it has been around since the early days of online advertising. Back then, the great majority of those browser addons and desktop programs that were available were either fishy (for advanced users) or were spammy themselves (i.e. collecting data and tracking users). Of course, we should say a big thank you to those who tried over the years to roll out honest and clean ad removal tools.  But what’s new now? The good news is that Google Chrome – by itself – released an update that would let the popular browser block ads (even those by Google AdWords) on those websites that display noisy, or non-compliant ads with spammy nature. By the middle of February 2018, all Chrome users who downloaded the update will have a built-in ad-blocker by Google. The notable change that encouraged Google to take action in this regard came after they joined t he “Coalition for Better Ads” which advocates and encourages better ads practices by the online ads industry; ads that will not mislead, annoy nor trap users but instead, work for their best interests (along with the best interests of advertisers). Check the coalition’s website to understand the guidelines they are promoting and if your ads abide by them; you’ll save your ads the hassle of getting blocked by Chrome and will not be deprived from showing your ads to the massive audience that is on Chrome already. At Josoor Internet Marketing, we are so keen to run honest, ethical and clean advertising and SEO for our clients. Are you on AdWords? Say goodbye to Review Extensions

Rest In Peace, Review Extensions. It was nice to have you but it was not easy to have you approved by Google, though! In a nutshell; Ad Extensions allowed advertisers on AdWords to show additional information on their Search (text) ads, that included displaying a map with their company’s location, displaying promoted product images or the most popular form of Ad Extensions which was “Link to additional pages within your advertised website” and the click-to-call phone number feature, beside other features.  Before the end of 2017, Google AdWords announced that review extensions would be killed by January 15th, this year. What is the impact of that on both; advertisers and agencies? For us, Advertisers and agencies, we will miss an interesting feature that allowed us to provide further information about our promoted products and services. Although the reason(s) why Google decided to kill this feature, maybe because, it was confusing to the users? Or did it add up a lot of work load on AdWord’s review teams? We have no clue! What we’re sure about is that Google AdWords is definitely cooking something else and it will be rolled out for public tasting sometime in the future. So let’s stay tuned!
